World's largest water skiing competition 81st Goode Water Ski National Championships

Palm Beach County Sports Commission and the Ski Club of the Palm Beaches have partnered together to host the 2023 USA Water Ski & Wake Sports 81st Goode Water Ski National Championships

More than 600 water ski athletes from across the United States and thousands of spectators will visit Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach, Florida, Wednesday through Saturday, for the 81st Goode Water Ski National Championships.

Where: Okeeheelee Park, 7715 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach

When: Wed, Aug. 9th to Sat, 12th

Cost: Free

The nation’s top water ski athletes will compete for national titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall in respective age divisions and two Open divisions. Advancement to the world’s largest three-event water ski tournament is primarily earned through placement on the national rankings list. Athletes also can qualify by placing in the top-five in the previous year’s event or at respective 2023 regional championships.

PALM BEACH INVITATIONAL


Ski Club of the Palm Beaches will be hosting a separate event called the Palm Beach Invitational on Friday, Aug. 11th. It is one of the most active clubs in the country.


The competition starts at 8:00pm. Food trucks including Walker's Barbecue, Crazy Cuban, Hitching Company, Awesome Empanadas, Royal Palm Ice Cream and Professional Concessions Inc. will be available starting at 6:00pm.

ABOUT The first national championships was held in 1939 at Jones Beach in Long Island, N.Y. Except for three years during World War II (1942-1944), the Nationals has been held every year since 1939. Goode Skis, a National level sponsor of USA Water Ski & Wake Sports, has been the title sponsor since 2000.

OKEEHEELEE PARK

This year’s event will mark the fifth time the national championships has been held in the Palm Beaches, and the first time since 2019. The park is one of the best water skiing locations in the world. It has five lakes that were specifically designed for the thrilling waterskiing competition. Okeeheelee Park, which is a Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation venue was named the“ Large Market Venue of the Year” by the Florida Sports Foundation in 2021.
